Traditionally, the four big themes of Advent are Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. The first candle reminds us of the Hope we have in Christ’s coming.

I have to acknowledge what happened in my past and accept that I can’t change it. But that does not mean my past should dictate my future.

We have a hope because knowing Jesus brings contentment regardless of material possessions and joy despite difficult circumstances.
